Structures interactions in virtual environments

Providing structured interactions in virtual environments has not happened to a satisfactory extent. Environments such as second life do not provide a clear picture to the user on what interactions can be performed by the user. There needs to be a protocol that defines these interactions.

For example, say we are setting up an e-learning virtual environment. In that scenario, the teacher and the students should understand the protocol of how a class is conducted. The students should know what actions are allowed which are not permitted. In this scenario, structure for interactions can be provided by these interaction protocols (which are graphical structures which describe the permissible interactions and the order of these actions).

It would be nice to hear about you opinions on this aspect.
